Support your Period & Your Gut: Simple, Healthy Seeded Crackers (vegan, df, gf)
The struggle to find healthy crackers amongst the sea of packages in the grocery aisle is real. Not to mention managing food sensitivities such as gluten, nuts, dairy, and grains, or dietary choices like vegan and plant-based.
You scan the aisle for the “healthy-looking ones.” Reading all the ingredient labels, finding one that works, only to discover the cost is way higher than you can justify… been there? So have I.
Maybe you’ve stopped buying crackers all together. I did, for a long time. Especially while living abroad – it’s even more difficult and healthy imports are more expensive.
I’m here to tell you, it doesn’t have to be a struggle. All you need is less than an hour, a few simple ingredients, and an oven. I’ve got you on this one! (Unless you’re allergic to seeds, then this one isn’t for you).
Here you go: easy, healthy, and safe for nearly all food sensitivities and intolerances!
Did I mention cheaper? Yeah, they’re cheaper, too.
Plus, flax and hemp seeds are a good source of fiber and healthy fats, and are easily digestible.
Try out different herbs to change up the flavor – fresh rosemary and oregano are my favourites.

Here’s the recipe:
Ingredients:
2/3 cup ground flax seeds
1/3 cup hemp hearts (or other seeds of choice – sunflower or pumpkin)
2 Tbsp chia seeds
1/2 tsp Himalayan pink salt
3 tsp dried or 2 Tbsp fresh herbs
1/2 cup water
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven 320°F (160°C)
2. Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl
3. Gradually add water and mash/mix with spoon
4. Spread onto silicone baking mat or parchment paper. (It will be sticky! Use a spoon or fingers. Or roll out between 2 sheets of parchment paper or 2 baking mats)
5. Score with knife into squares (like a grid so it’s easy to break apart later)
6. Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown (should be firm to the touch but not burned)
7. Let cool
8. Break apart along scored lines (should easily pop off baking mat/paper).
9. Enjoy!
These are great with your favorite dips, cheeses, or even crumbled on a salad like croutons.
Store in an air-tight container for up to 4 days.
